Haulout, Saildrive, Keel, Water Heater.

Ihana got hauled out this morning and is now back in the water this afternoon!  All is well.

Damage & repair report:

1. Saildrive & Propeller.  Fine!  Very slight bend in drive shaft, maybe. Well under 1 mm side to side, if any.  Since there were no vibrations when we ran the motor, I think all is well here.  There are a few nicks on the prop – so we had some rough edges sanded off & smoothed out.

2. Keel. Several areas had the paint knocked off by the chain while we were in crisis mode last Friday & Saturday at Great Sale Cay.  Some rust spots on the lead keel (lead rusts??). The bare spots were sanded and covered with rust preventative coating, then primer and paint.  There are only a few slight areas that needed this touch-up, but we figure we might as well have it done while we were on-the-hard.

3. Water Heater.  Was taken out of the boat; there was a small hairline crack in the welding where one of the water hose fittings attaches to the tank.  We had it welded today, and we should have it reinstalled in a few hours.  Yeah!  Cold and HOT water again on-board.

Tomorrow (Friday) is a holiday here in The Bahamas.  Something new the government came up with, that many locals don't even know about. Celebrating heroes, majority rule, or something like that.  No problem for us – groceries & tourist places will stay open. Boatyard won't be working, but that's okay – we're done.
